Vishwamitra Brief #009: G7 Oil Release, Iraq Withdrawal, Mars Water, Magnetar Candidate and Pompeii

Vishwamitra Brief Issue #009 | 4 October 2026 The week offered a useful test of how claims survive contact with evidence: a G7 oil release, an American military exit from Iraq, attacks on Kyiv's bridges, and new measurements of Mars, a neutron-star merger and Vesuvius. By Santhosh Vishwamitra Strategic Briefing The G7 agreed on 2 October to coordinate the release of 100 million barrels of crude and diesel through the International Energy Agency over four months, with a substantial diesel release front-loaded into the first 20 days. The more revealing figure is 75 million barrels. The IEA said that 325 million barrels had been released from the 400 million barrels pledged in March. It remains unclear whether the new G7 release includes that outstanding amount or comes on top of it. This issue covers 28 September to 4 October 2026. Washington and its allies argued over fuel, the last US troops left Iraq, and Russian strikes damaged Kyiv's bridges. At...

The Ranch That Was Never Searched: Inside the Epstein Investigation America Forgot | Inside Stories

Seven years after Jeffrey Epstein's death, investigators finally walked inside his secretive New Mexico ranch armed with explosive claims, sealed FBI files, and a state fed up with waiting for federal answers.

What Is Zorro Ranch?

Jeffrey Epstein purchased the sprawling 7,500-acre property in Stanley, New Mexico about 30 miles south of Santa Fe in 1993. For over two decades, it served as one of his most private and least scrutinised retreats. Survivors, including the late Virginia Giuffre and Annie Farmer, have alleged sexual abuse took place at the property. The January 2026 DOJ document release exposed Epstein's extensive social connections, politicians, business figures, scientists who visited the ranch.

Despite raids on Epstein's New York townhouse and his private island in the US Virgin Islands following his 2019 arrest, Zorro Ranch was never searched by federal authorities. As of December 2019, four months after Epstein's death, a federal prosecutor's own email, now part of the released files, confirmed the ranch had still not been searched. There is no public evidence it was touched after that.

Epstein's estate sold the property in 2023 to Texas businessman Don Huffines, who renamed it San Rafael Ranch and announced plans to develop it into a Christian retreat. Huffines has stated full cooperation with investigators.

On Monday, March 9, New Mexico's Department of Justice formally initiated a search of the property. The operation was ordered by Attorney General Raúl Torrez, who had reopened the state's investigation in February after reviewing newly released, previously sealed FBI files. New Mexico State Police and the Sandoval County Sheriff's Office assisted in the effort.

A Reuters correspondent on the ground reported government vehicles at the site, including one bearing a paw-print symbol suggesting the presence of cadaver or search dogs. DOJ spokesperson Lauren Rodriguez confirmed the search covered both the ranch grounds and the buildings on the property, declining to share whether anything had been found.

"We will continue to keep the public appropriately informed, support the survivors, and follow the facts wherever they lead," the Department said in a statement.

The Buried Bodies Allegation

The most disturbing claim driving this search comes from an anonymous email received in 2019 by Albuquerque radio host Eddy Aragon, who forwarded it to the FBI. The email, now part of the publicly released Epstein files was sent from an encrypted account by someone who claimed to be a former Zorro Ranch employee.

The sender alleged that two foreign girls died at the ranch during what were described as violent sexual encounters, and that Epstein ordered their bodies buried "somewhere in the hills outside the Zorro." The email also claimed the writer possessed videos of Epstein with underage girls, offering to hand over a thumb drive for one Bitcoin worth roughly $8,000 at the time.

Aragon says he forwarded the email to the FBI and was told he would receive an update. He never heard back. It is unclear whether the FBI ever investigated the tip. The bureau has declined to comment. These allegations remain unverified and unconfirmed but they are now at the centre of a criminal investigation that the state of New Mexico is treating as serious enough to act on.

Why Was This Never Done Before?

That is the question no one in the federal government has cleanly answered. New Mexico's original state investigation was shut down in 2019 at the explicit request of the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, which was building its federal case against Epstein. The state was told to stand down. The federal case collapsed when Epstein died in his Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 and the Zorro Ranch investigation was never revived.

State Representative Andrea Romero, who chairs the newly formed Epstein Truth Commission, put it plainly: "The federal government told us to stand down, but there were no crimes tried at all." The federal shutdown of the state probe with no follow-through from Washington left years of potential evidence sitting untouched on a 7,500-acre property that eventually changed hands privately.

Critics, including local radio host Aragon, argue the timing is damaging regardless. "It's all just a big to do stuff that should have gone six, seven years ago. What are they going to find now?" The concern is real: renovation work is already underway at the property under its new owners, which state lawmakers say may have already compromised potential evidence.

New Mexico's Truth Commission

New Mexico has moved more aggressively than any other US state on this issue. In February 2026, its legislature unanimously passed a measure creating a bipartisan "Epstein Truth Commission", the first of its kind in the country. The four-member panel has subpoena power, a $2 million budget, and a mandate to investigate what happened at Zorro Ranch and why it was allowed to continue for 26 years. A public report is due by July 31, with a final report before year-end.

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham backed the effort publicly: "This is a Legislature that is not afraid to take on tricky issues, where we need a lot more DOJ work here, not less." The commission is designed to be survivor-centred, taking testimony from those who say they were abused at the ranch and identifying legal gaps that enabled Epstein to operate in secrecy within the state for decades.

Justice Delayed Is Not Justice Denied, Unless You Let It Stay Delayed Forever

Let's be direct: the fact that Zorro Ranch was never searched after Epstein's arrest in 2019 is one of the most glaring investigative failures in recent American legal history. Every other property was raided. This one was not. And the federal government's response to state investigators trying to do their job was to tell them to step aside after which they did absolutely nothing themselves.

The buried bodies allegation is unverified. It may turn out to be nothing. But the point is not the allegation, it's that a serious, specific tip was forwarded to the FBI in 2019 and was apparently never followed up on. That is not a mistake. That is a choice. Someone decided this particular ranch, unlike every other Epstein property, did not warrant a search. The survivors deserved better then, and they deserve better now.

New Mexico stepping in is the right call and it is frankly embarrassing that a state government had to light a fire under federal authorities on this. The Epstein case has always been about one thing above everything else: whether wealth and connections can permanently insulate someone from accountability. The jury on that question is still very much out.

The Bottom Line

Seven years, zero federal searches, and a ranch that quietly changed hands. New Mexico finally decided enough was enough. Whatever investigators find or don't find, the question of why Zorro Ranch was never a priority will need a real answer, not a bureaucratic one.
